Coloring Wood With Gelatos

Several weeks ago I watched a Craft Tip video on My Craft Channel and HAD to try it right away. In the episode, Lori Allred shared how to color wood veneers with Gelatos. So easy and so brilliant. I mean really brilliant. I’m a recent Gelatos convert and I love finding ways to use them that do not require a Bachelor Of Fine Arts and 10 years of experience. Seriously-why are they so scary? Is anyone else so thoroughly intimidated by them?

To color wood veneer with Gelatos:

  • Rub the Gelato over the wood veneer.
  • Moisten your finger and rub the color in.
  • That’s all!

You can watch the MCC Craft Tip here:

For my layout I grabbed an older picture of my daughter and after cutting out the 17 Turtles Hand Drawn Circles file for my frame (p.s. it’s a free file.) I simply tucked bits and pieces around the photo. I grabbed scraps from my scrap basket and some pieces from a sticker sheet. This was truly a stash busting layout.

The bright pink title stands out! I love that Gelatos have such rich color.

Give this technique a try!

Thank you for the Craft Tip link on Gelatos, I love the added dimension of the wooden sentiment and the shocking pink which works beautifully with the wood grain background.
